Physical versus Chemical Sunscreens: Whats the diff?

Not all sunscreens work the same way.

They can be broken up into two types - chemical and physical. Chemical sunscreens work by absorbing UVA/UVB sun rays, and include long-named ingredients like avobenzone and octylmethylcinnamate. Physical sunscreens work by sitting on top of the skin to block the UVA/UVB sun rays, and include zinc oxide and titanium oxide. These sunscreens are usually white in color, which is why older versions of physical sunblocks can leave skin with a white cast. However, there are new and innovative sunscreens which are finely milled (yet not nano-sized) to eliminate the white look, but provide the sun protection. EVER formulates sunscreens using only physical sunscreens.
