Product Changing Appearance

Product Changing Appearance

Don’t worry if your product is experiencing a minor shift in color, odor or appearance. Most of the time, products can change depending on how long they have been exposed to light, heat, moisture and air.

This is why we recommend keeping products in a cool, dry place with the lid tightly capped. But there’s also another reason products may shift and it has to do with the ingredients we use.

Our formulations are botanically-derived whenever possible, so think about how an apple, for instance, can change color when exposed to air or light. We need to use certain ingredients that are synthetically-derived to preserve shelf life and maintain stability, but we choose not to use them to reduce normal color changes in our botanicals. Bottom line, if you notice a color or scent shifting slightly from its original form, it’s no cause for concern.

One example of a natural product transition is seen in our EVERBRIGHT™  Instant Brightening Mask. This product has a high level of vitamin C and azelaic acid - these ingredients are doing the work. At the same time, these ingredients can cause a color shift from a pale baby pink to a light peach color with time. This is normal, and the efficacy stays the same.
