Skincare and Skintype
Why should we use the right skincare for our skin type?
The same reason you select clothes that fit you. Sure, if you are a medium and bought an extra large t-shirt, you could get away with wearing it. But, of course, a medium-sized t-shirt would fit most comfortably and look most flattering on you.
Likewise, your skin looks its best when you can select the skincare that addresses the concerns specific to your skin type. You’ll first need to understand what skin type you have. Most of us will find that we fall into the following buckets: normal, dry, oily, and combination. Questions about your skin type? Take our Skin Quiz for personalized results and recommendations.
When you understand your skin type, you have a starting point from which to choose the types of products to use. For example, if you have oily skin, stay away from rich creams and choose lightweight or oil-free products; and if you have dry skin, avoid overly-stripping cleansers and swap them for cream or balm cleansers.
In addition, your skin type can inform you on what kind of skin concerns are typical for you, whether you’re currently experiencing them or if you may be prone to them. These are fairly obvious - those with oily skin are more likely to experience break outs, those with dry skin may experience more loss of radiance and flakiness, and people with combination skin might experience both. The good news is that many products addressing skin type will also address its typical skin concerns.
