Lauren Datz is an EVER Independent Specialist who balances her independent EVER business with an unexpected career: designing headstones for cemeteries. As disparate as this may seem, she finds a way to fulfill these passions, drawing upon similar skills to succeed in both. With her adoring husband and 5 year old son in tow, she aims to lead and grow a team of passionate Specialists.
Tell us about your careers.
In addition to my EVER business, I design headstones. My family has owned this business since the ‘70’s, and while I always get surprised looks, it’s a career that I find fulfilling. I encounter many families facing difficult loss, and I’ve found meaning in being able to help them with my craft. This line of work has allowed me to build on compassion and patience in order to do well.
I always say I use the same skill set for both EVER and my full time job; I just apply them differently. My sensitivity and empathy helps connect me with my customers, to understand their needs and make recommendations.
What inspired you to become an EVER Independent Specialist?
I started out as an Independent Designer with KEEP Collective. I had been watching EVER from the sidelines, and became inspired by the business opportunity to start from the ground floor. I was also interested in the products because I wanted to start using skincare intentionally - I’m turning 35 soon and would like to take some preventative measures. I figured this was a good way to get my hands on good product, and sell products that I relate more to.
What is your next big goal and how do you plan to achieve it?
I’m a Founding Star Specialist, and my goal is to reach Associate Director level by the end of this year. To do this, I am going to guide my team towards promoting by boosting sales. I have a few members who are on their way to reaching their next level - I mentor them weekly and support them however I can. As many other Specialists have said, the only way to reach my goals at EVER is if my team also reach their goals.
I’d also like to add that I feel well supported by the EVER community. Teamwork, collaboration and encouragement are strong themes, and I felt that a lot during our first EVER Hoopla convention. Getting to meet these individuals in person, after getting to know them virtually / online, and feeling their support has made me feel like I am on my way to reaching my goals.
What has been your experience with the EVER Transformation and what does that mean to you?
I’ve always been a redhead with red skin - I’ve experienced visible redness. I’ve always felt a bit self conscious about this, which is why I wore a lot of foundation to cover it. But with EVER, I feel so comfortable wearing Daylight when I leave the house, and sometimes, I don’t even feel like I need that coverage because my skin looks so good. My skin has really transformed, to the point that people give me compliments.
That confidence has helped me step outside of my comfort zone, which is something I’ve practiced a lot as an EVER Specialist. For example, I would never be the one to share much on social media. Today, I use Facebook Live streaming regularly, and it’s easy for me. I look at it as a tool for me to reach people, and help them feel as confident as I do in my skin.
What’s the one product you could not live without?
The new POLISH Lemon Sugar Body Scrub is amazing. I think it's a fantastic price point and I can't wait to be able to share it with my clients. With winter skin being from the North East it's going to keep my skin in tip top shape despite the dry weather.
