Heather Wadland is an EVER Independent Specialist who has lived the harrowing hurdle of her child being born with a severe birth defect that landed him in the ICU for the first three months of his life. Fortunately, he has survived and he is healthy, and they have overcome this obstacle as a family. Here is the story behind Heather’s experience with EVER, and how it has enabled her to extend her heart and generosity to a mother whose son was born with the same condition.
What inspired you to become an EVER Independent Specialist?
When EVER came along, I just wanted some great skincare to replace my clinical grade derm products, I wasn’t interested in selling. But I started getting compliments on my skin left and right, and decided I would give it a go as a Specialist. I found that the product began to sell itself because my customers trusted me and my results. And as I put more effort into my business, this became much more than skincare for me.
Going through my son’s illness and the aftermath had been very challenging for me. I had become withdrawn, less confident and less motivated; it turned me into someone I wasn’t used to. But, taking EVER seriously, building my business, has forced me to get out there, look people in the eye and speak to them, and reawaken the goal-oriented spirit in me. I remembered to take care of myself and I regained my confidence.
One of the most empowering things I’ve been able to do through earning money as a Specialist is helping to financially support a mother whose son was born with the same defects as mine was, and who has to be away from the rest of her family to get her son medical care. I know how emotionally and physically difficult it is to spend so much time in a hospital, so I paid for a month of her stay at the Ronald McDonald house (where families of sick children can stay), I send her food every week, and I connect with her daily to provide emotional support. Her son is due to leave the hospital shortly and I am so happy I’ve been able to help how I can, all because I earn through being an EVER Specialist.
It has transformed me as a person, more so than my skin. I feel like EVER has been a healing experience for me - it has helped me feel more confident, sure of myself, and has boosted my self-esteem. I feel so good, and I also know I make other women feel good about themselves, which makes it rewarding for me.
What’s your next big goal and how to achieve?
With EVER, I’d really like to hit Director level. I’m working on growing my team and coaching. I’m also planning a cross country move, which is scary, but I am excited to have a whole new group of people to reach out to. I think there’s a bit of trial and error involved, but I’m looking forward to casting a wider net of women to join my team and experience EVER.
What’s the product you couldn’t live without?
